Special Dinners

The truffle season is a short one, and enjoying their mid-winter magic to the full while we can, inevitably leads to planning special dinners. Dinners with multiple courses where you see how versatile the truffle is in enhancing the flavour of almost every kind of produce.

So if you only have one night when you can escape the ordinary, these degustation dinners are the place to head for. They offer outstanding value (if you were in any other capital city you would pay twice as much) and the dishes are usually matched with wines that are an experience in themselves. The chefs of Capital Country love to show off and this is where they get the chance.

Every Tuesday in June (and July dates below) while the supply is available, Benchmark Wine Bar will have a local Black Truffle Degustation dinner. Consisting of 5 courses with wines $150 per person There are limited seats and for the 2 months only,  see the website.

June 21
Dieci e Mezzo Executive Chef, James Kidman has invited his friends and fellow truffle-philes, Thomas Moore who until recently was chef at Grazing at Gundaroo, and Ben Willis of Aubergine to collaborate on this truly unique menu. $175 pp with wines.

Lerida Estate and Le Tres Bon are holding a truffle dinner that matches seven courses of local produce and seven local wines from Lerida Estate. Cost $220 per head. See the website
