In 2010 we are spoilt for choice with places to enjoy truffle in the Capital Region. Get out  your diary early so you can fit as much in as you can while the very short season lasts.

  • Axis at the National Museum of Australia can be counted on to surprise and delight with truffle on their menu in July and August. Phone 6208 5176.
  • Chef Christophe Gregoire’s Le Très Bon French restaurant in Bungendore will have truffle events on June 12th (truffle dinner and cabaret), July 3rd and August 7th (cooking classes followed by eating what you cook). These classes fill quickly with regular cooking school devotees so phone soon and book. Phone 6238 0662.
  • At Senso chef Jan Gundlach and his team will have truffle dinners, demonstrations and tastings all through the Festival period. Don’t miss out on the season’s last truffle hunt at BLue Frog on  Sunday 25 July – Truffle Hunt 9am followed by Truffle Long Lunch if you wish. Special package price for Sunday hunt and lunch $110.   • Pulp Kitchen is offering a special Monday night truffle tasting menu  that is outstanding value and quality. Check the events section of the website for details and booking information. Phone 6257 4334.
  • Café Lerida will be again featuring truffle dishes which show off the region’s black Perigord truffles and which work well with Lerida’s award winning wines. The venue overlooking the magnificent Lake George is always a great place for a lazy weekend lunch. Phone 6295 6640.
  • Flint in the Vines at the Shaw Vineyards, Murrumbateman, Grant Kells’ new country venue, will offer truffle dishes throughout the season.   • Flint Dining Room and Bar at New Acton will also serve truffle delights throughout the season – a fabulous place to fall into after a busy day at the office! Check out the events calendar for the Michelin Star Chefs 5 course tasting menu. PHone 6162 3350.
  • Crisps Lane Cafe at Yass Valley Wines in Murrumbateman will again have special truffle dishes on their cafe menu. Last year the cafe knocked people’s socks off with truffle in every course from entree to dessert. Phone 6227 5592.
  • At Grazing in Gundaroo, Chef Tom Moore will feature a special local truflle dish for the season. Did you know that Grazing made it onto the Australian Traveller magazine’s top 100 culinary experiences in Australia? Well you do now. Phone 6236 8777.
  • At Lambert Vineyards you’ll be able again to enjoy a sumptuous winter menu prepared by Chef Chris Whitlock, including dishes featuring local truffles. Pizza lovers will have to put this one on the list. Cosy up by the fire with local wine and great company. Phone 6238 3866.
  • Lark Hill Winery in Bungendore is offering workshops on Saturdays from 12 June to 25 July and truffle dishes on the restaurant menu every Sunday lunch during that period. We especially like the sound of the first Saturday with its combination of disgorging methode champenoise and cooking with truffle. So much pleasure in one go! Phone 6238 1393.
  • If you work in the parliamentary triangle and like to nip down to Kingston for lunch or breakfast, check out what SILO Bakery is offering during truffle season. Could surprise you. Phone 6260 6060.

  • Chef Michael Chatto, who seems to have quite a local fan club and is now to be found at Artespresso in Kingston has promised us some culinary treats with truffle in this year’s festival season. Watch this space for more on this one. Phone 6295 8055.
  • The Locanda Italian Steakhouse at Rydges Lakeside has a 6 course truffle dinner on Wednesday 28 July. $149 per person. Phone 6247 1488.
